Hey BAPPers!
Can anyone offer any advice on writing an informative but concise literature review for the Critical Review. I'm struggling to review all the literature I have read... Does anyone have examples of how you've managed this?
Thanks
Joanna
Hi Joanna
ReplyDeleteHope your well. I too am feeling a little bit overwhelmed with the literature review, there is so much to read!
What i have done is make notes on the key things that have stood out to me when reading an article/journal/chapter, especially anything that links in directly with my research and then go back and write the review on the main points rather than trying to cover the whole thing. I have selected key quotes that have seemed useful and just tried to put everything into perspective of how it ties in to my own inquiry.
Done know if that will be of any help but thats just what ive done. Will try and get some of them up on my blogs today.

Yes similar to Cerys really, try to make notes as you go along, summarising key points in your own words. Develop the point by referring to your own practise. x
ReplyDeleteHi Joanna,
ReplyDeleteI find that it helps to keep questioning how the literature is relevant to my inquiry. It's so easy to go off on a tangent because so many interesting thoughts keep cropping up - but if you can focus in on those key paragraphs that really illuminate your topic then it may help with keeping your review as specific as possible!
Hope that helps - I'm on my literature section at the moment too!

Thank you for asking this question Joanna and thanks for answering it guys. The literature has been my biggest downfall all the way along. First of all I had nothing and now I think I have too much and I no longer no what's relevant. I'm going to make notes on key points like you said though and hopefully that will help.
